SUMMARY:

The Environmental Educator is responsible for the learning needs assessments, formulate, and document training requirements, and develops appropriate training for the department, onboard new team members in department specific knowledge/competencies, provide continuous education for the department and performs periodic inspections. This position is responsible to work with the EVS management team to develop EVS policies and procedures and leads and/or contributes to department quality initiatives and programs serves as a member of the EVS Management team

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of 3 years progressively more responsible experience in the Environmental Services / Hospitality industry
  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS office including but not limited to office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Communicate effectively both orally and written.
  • Must have good communication skills. Bi-lingual skills a plus but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and establish priorities
  • Must have production experience, ability to be able to problem solve, previous experience supervising both people & resources, and be self-motivated. This position will provide leadership and support the management team at Munson Medical Center. Ability to effectively communicate policies, and/or procedures in a manner easily understood by fellow employees
  • Training and demonstrable skills that shall include (but not be limited to): Daily procedures isolated cleaning procedures, checkout cleaning procedures, spray buffing, carpet shampooing, wall washing, and vacuum operations.
  • Must be able to work under pressure as difficult situations arise and retain a sense of diplomacy and urgency. Prioritized effectively in the face of infinite demands and finite resources.
  • Must pass TB and drug screen.

  • Is responsible for formal education presentations, such as orientation classes and periodic department or departmental updates
  • Facilitates development of competency testing for specific departments/disciplines, assuring consistency of message. Monitors programs for compliance.
  • Develop/ track competency tests to new hires and/or existing staff.
  • Participates in divisional education coalition to improve educational objectives division wide.
  • Develops annual skills day or competencies for staff based on need
  • Acts as a resource system-wide specific to area of expertise
  • Uses logic, data and reasoning for decision making.
  • Functions independently when working on interdepartmental process improvement initiatives.
  • Measure staff quality and productivity.
  • Ensures metrics perform within established parameters
  • Enforce staff performance expectations, in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Consults with the Management in matters of non-routine staffing and discipline.
  • Works interdepartmentally with management support to solve process issues.
  • Assists with resolution of inter- and intra- departmental issues.
  • Develops agenda and for education huddle/meeting sessions, covering all required topics.
  • Facilitates interviewing and hiring for available positions.
  • Works on-call as directed by department management.
  • May assume additional departmental responsibility in the absence of the Manager
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
