SUMMARY

The Environmental Services (EVS) Trainer is responsible for the onboarding, training of all environmental services staff to include maintaining and auditing personnel training records. The position is responsible for coordinating and managing all processes related to staff training and development, staff retention improvement activities, patient experience and satisfaction as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other regulatory compliance training. Develops EVS policies and procedures and leads and/or contributes to department quality initiatives and programs Serves as a member of the EVS Management team

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

High school graduate, (2) years college degree or above preferred.

2-3 years health care environmental services experience, demonstrated leadership skills, analytical and oral communication skills.

Must pass TB and drug screen.

Training and demonstrable skills that shall include (but not be limited to): Cleaning Procedures, Isolated Cleaning Procedures, Checkout Cleaning Procedures, Spray Buffing, Carpet Shampooing, Wall Washing, and Vacuum Operations.

Knowledge and familiarity with chemical use and dilution rates.

Must have good communication skills.

Communicate effectively both orally and written.

Requires very good health and stamina:  constant standing and walking; occasionally must lift Roto (100 lbs).

 SPECIFIC DUTIES

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive oversight of new hires throughout the onboarding and training process
  • Provides the initial department assessment, evaluating the new hire’s willingness and ability to learn and display competencies to perform the assigned tasks.
  • Interfaces with human resources and department managers to ensure successful organizational and departmental orientation as well as technical training of assigned job responsibilities consistent with best practice.
  • Proactively handles any improvement opportunities or concerns. Leads or participates in performance improvement projects and process improvement efforts.
  • Researches, coordinates and implements core training programs and systems (cleaning and disinfection practices, protocols, auditing tools, competencies, job aides, in-services, skills labs, etc.). Develops and utilizes appropriate evaluation systems to measure effectiveness of educational activities and uses feedback to adjust programs accordingly.
  • Collaboratively selects training materials with department director and/or manager.
  • Maintains and organizes training materials and associated validation of employee competency training to meet accreditation requirements.
  • Establishes EVS annual continuing education calendar.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Establishes self as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in environmental services, regulatory compliance, and training
  • Promotes a culture of safety, Hand Hygiene, patient experience and satisfaction, and employee engagement and retention.
  • Effectively employs appropriate use of computers and mobile devices for daily job performance activities using applicable hardware or software, attaching files, composing cohesive and appropriate electronic messages and appropriately using internet browsers or sites
  • Employs a customer centered approach when addressing the needs of and interacting with patients, visitors, guests, team members and other health care workers
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
