1. Technologist will perform CT exams and procedures as well as CT vascular exams.

Knows the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines.  Performs job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques.  Plans actions to promote safety.  Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to Hospital procedure.

1. Maintains a positive and professional atmosphere for patient. Demonstrates interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical or emotional stress and gather and exchange patient information with nursing personnel and physicians.

1. Cooperates with all department and hospital personnel and Medical Staff in a positive and professional manner, maintaining ethical relationships. Maintains a positive and loyal attitude towards employer.

1. Must demonstrate supervisory and leadership qualities in order to triage patients and organize workload without direct supervision.

1. Must be exacting in recording the required patient information on department forms and CT images.

1. Must be able to act quickly and decisively in emergency situations and deviate from routine procedures when specific patient conditions require.

1. Is trained properly in starting IV’s on patients, is familiar with department policy on use of existing IV’s in patients and other injectable devices. Knowledge of Med Rad Injector protocols.

1. Maintains positive and professional atmosphere for patients. Shows respect to co-workers, physicians, patients, visitors, and others in performing job duties and follows customer service guidelines/commitment to coworker’s principles.

1. Able to perform Quality, Diagnostic CT Scans: Knowledge of cross section anatomy, knowledge of CT scanner protocols. Knowledge of CT scanner functions: is able to properly select technical factors for efficiency performing scans.

1. Demonstrates proficiency and care in performing RadNet and PACS functions. Able to obtain and document patients medical and allergy history in RadNet. Responsible for proficient CT image transfer and RadNet exam completing functions.

1. Will follow CT protocols set by Radiologists for each exam. Assists Radiologist in sterile procedures when necessary. Follows CT protocols; following CT Protocol book; following CT Protocol sheets; Reading/implementing CT Protocol changes.

1. Follows MHC policy regarding preparation and/or administration of contrast media when indicated, including GFR policy and Contrast Allergy policy. Maintains knowledge of technologist role when responding to contrast allergies and reactions.

1. Maintain neat, orderly, contamination free exam room. Work Ethic: Actively monitors work list/takes initiative to start exams, stocking/room prep.

1. Is able to “trouble shoot” for aiding maintenance and uses good judgment as to when services are needed.

1. May be able and willing to instruct “training technologists”, students, and ancillary personnel on CT procedures.

1. Responsible for smooth flow of schedule, patient preparation, and quality control of CT scans. Cooperates with all other department personnel for smooth patient flow.

1. Actively promotes and effectively utilizes job related technology, process change and policy (PowerChart, GroupWise).

1. Maintains professional appearance by adhering to Dress Policy of the hospital and Radiology Department.

1. Adheres to prescribed standards for radiation safety. Understands and adheres to ALARA pledge and Image Gently pledge for pediatric imaging. Maintains understanding of CT technologist role in patient advocacy including screening women of within childbearing years prior to CT imaging.

1. Handles equipment in responsible, professional manner.

1. Adheres to patient confidentiality code.

1. Maintains up-to-date, current CPR certification and is compliant with CE credits per ARRT requirements.

1. Commitment to professional growth and lifelong learning (e.g., continuing medical education in the specialty area(s) performed, higher education, staff training, etc.).

1. May work off shifts, weekends and be responsible for on-call responsibilities.

1. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
• Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.
• Frequent reaching above shoulder level and overhead.
• Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
• Occasional repositioning and use of assistive devices when transferring patients weighing up to 400 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
• Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
• Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.

• Primarily an inside building/office environment, well lighted and ventilated, which may consist of multiple treatment and/or work sites.
• Fast and continuous work pace with variable workload.
• Frequent contact with staff and public under a variety of circumstances. Requires ability to communicate clearly (in English) verbally and in writing for effective communication with other staff members, physicians, vendors, community members, patients and patient families, employees and applicants of all socio-economic levels from a diverse cultural and ethnic population.
• Subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries, illness and/or death.
• Handles emergency/crisis situations in accordance with Hospital policy.
• Answers phones or pages; may carry a beeper/pager, and/or use a two-way radio.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Potential risk of exposure to hazards from chemicals (toxic and non-toxic), flammable materials, gas or electrical or radiant energy or equipment with/without moving parts.
