Job SummaryThe Accounting Manager provides expertise in proper accounting under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position is responsible for accurate and timely distribution of monthly and annual financial reporting.
Education and Experience Education: Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Bachelors Degree in Finance with Accounting classes equivalent to Accounting minor.
Master’s degree in related field or qualified candidate preferred. Certification, Licensure, Registration: CMA, CPA, FHFMA, CHFP designations preferred.
Work Experience: A minimum of five years combined experience in a health care or multiple company accounting environment or public accounting firm.

Experience in preparation of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliation, spreadsheet analysis/development, and applied working knowledge of US GAAP.
Experience in providing assistance in interpreting financial trends and variances to budget and past performance.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, and other financial software. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze, recommend, design and implement accounting procedural changes within the Accounting department and customer departments.
Self-motivated, multitasker with the ability to prioritize work accordingly. This individual provides leadership and facilitation to the attainment of department goals.
Essential Duties Supervises the preparation of financial statements and consolidated financial statements for all Munson Healthcare entities including joint ventures and managed companies.
Lead and supervise the accounting team performance during the closing process to ensure close deadlines are met.
Reviews monthly financial statements for multiple companies, including: balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows and supporting schedules.
Develop, coordinate and oversee dissemination of management responsibility reporting, including financial dashboard information and other routine reports including review of variance analysis information.
Monitors completeness, accuracy and timeliness of monthly general ledger reconciliations.
Reviews journal entries and reconciliations and supporting schedules of general ledger accounts, as assigned.
Provides work direction, oversight and performance improvement of functional teams, and facilitates regular meetings to coordinate all team activities.
Lead other daily operations of Accountants and Senior Accounts, such as general non-patient related invoicing and collections, unclaimed property, and related party contracts.
Assists in providing financial information for the external audit. Research accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Retrieve, analyze and interpret detailed financial information and provide analytical support to management.
Maintains general ledger system and controls additions to and deletions from accounting system master files.
Designs internal control systems for all processes to ensure the safeguarding of all Corporate assets.
Leads, facilitates and participates in process improvement teams. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Reports To: This position reports to the Corporate Controller and works closely with other department Directors or the CFO. The position also interacts with customers in other departments and varying levels, and in some cases governance of subsidiary and affiliate organizations.
This position exercises full supervision, including hiring, disciplinary action and performance reviews, over professional staff in the department.
