Munson Healthcare Neurology is a four-physician practice that provides services to patients at several of Munson’s community-based clinics. The Neurology CNP or PA will assist at designated offices by providing consultations and patient care to improve follow up availability, efficiency, and quality care.
The Clinical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will perform functions based on personal experience and professional judgment and: (1) discussion with the physician; (2) knowledge of physician preference; (3) written policies of this institution.
Candidate must apply for and be granted appropriate clinical privileges through MMC’s normal credentialing processes before rendering services.
WHAT WE ARE SEEKING IN YOU:
Licensed by the State of Michigan to practice as a Nurse Practitioner OR Physician Assistant.
Nurse Practitioner
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
Master of Science degree in Nursing and is ANCC or ACNP board certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
OR
Physician Assistant
Master of Physician Assistant studies (MPAS), Master of Health Science (MHS) or Master of Medical Science (MMSC) and is board certified as a Physician Assistant.
Maintains continuous certification related to CNP or PA training.
WHAT WOULD BE GREAT FOR THIS ROLE BUT NOT NECESSARY TO APPLY:
Experience in Neurology preferred. Secondary preferences include: physiatry, geriatrics.
ORGANIZATION:
As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work under the clinical direction of the Neurologist.
WHAT YOUR DAILY ACTIVITES AND EXPECTATION WILL BE IN THIS ROLE:
Is a self-directed professional with the ability to make independent judgments in providing direct patient care in two different locations. Will have oversight from Division Medical Director.
Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate, relate, and interact effectively with patients, families, and members of the health care team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a busy clinical environment.
Demonstrated computer skills and willingness to learn necessary health IT applications to promote maximum clinical efficiency.
Manage patient care in the outpatient setting under direct supervision of the Neurologist: performing comprehensive history and physical examinations, ordering of appropriate lab and radiographic studies, interpretation of lab and x-ray results, perform (or be willing to learn to perform) local injections, managing medications, making treatment decisions, and determining appropriate follow up.
Completes appropriate documentation of all evaluations, care, and services rendered in the electronic medical record (Powerchart/eCW).
Responds to telephone inquiries from clinic patients and provides appropriate medical care or counseling.
Communicates with referring or primary care physicians regarding patient care and treatment.
Communicates with physician-delegated prescriptive authority pursuant to state federal restrictions.
Advance Practice Provider will be responsible for their own billing.
Attends CME seminars and conferences to maintain licensure and currency in field.
