$10,000 Sign-On Bonus
This position will primarily perform X-rays and Mammograms. 

SUMMARY

Under minimal supervision, uses specific skills in performing a wide range of radiologic techniques and procedures.  Technologist works in two or more Modalities within the department on a daily/weekly basis in order to maintain competence in each area. 

We are looking for candidates who:
  • Experience in x-Ray and Mammography
  • have excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to explain procedures to patients
  • a supportive and caring disposition.
  • good observation skills and attention to detail.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).  Registered technologists must be in good standing.
  • A minimum of one-year experience in any Radiology subspecialty required, such as Radiography, Mammography, Bone Density or CT.
  • Maintains BLS certification with annual renewal.

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Acknowledges that safety is a self-responsibility.  Knows the physical requirements of the job and work within those guidelines.  Performs job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques.  Plans actions to promote safety.  Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to Hospital procedure.
 
Is responsible for the care of those patients assigned to him/her from the time the patient arrives until they leave.  Must be courteous, tactful and discrete in handling patients, with quality care and patient safety being the first concern.
 
Transfers and properly positions patients for examinations in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.  Provides immobilization as required and protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
 
Selects and operates all equipment utilizing proper technical factors.  Handles equipment in a responsible, professional manner.  Reports equipment failure to service engineer using proper forms and maintaining appropriate records.
 
Selects and loads proper imaging cassettes (per equipment specifics), using imaging markers correctly and consistently.  Has images processed as required.
 
Is responsible for producing acceptable quality images and practices ALARA principals where applicable.
 
Assists physicians in performance of examinations by mixing and pouring contrast media, administering opaque media, holding and turning patients, assisting in sterile procedures, and other related duties as required.  Assists in performing first aid as necessary.
 
Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination.  Maintains orderliness and cleanliness, including provision for the contamination free condition of rooms, equipment, and personnel.
 
Is responsible for the care of the imaging room assigned and if unassigned, to those duties and responsibilities relating to his/her reassignment.  Secures and returns supplies.  Maintains room stock.
 
Maintains professional appearance by adhering to Dress policy of the hospital and Radiology Department.
 
Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or special procedures in the absence of the Coordinator or Manager.
 
May assist in the use of a variety of equipment or procedure not routinely taught.
 
Performs a variety of related clerical tasks as necessary.
 
Takes advantage of opportunities for continuing education as provided by the department or seminars available for the various specialties.
 
Adheres to prescribed standards of Radiation Safety, proper collimation and patient shielding.
 
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Continuous standing/walking and occasional/intermittent sitting.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and shoulder level to handle/operate medical equipment/devices.

  • Frequent forward bending, twisting, squatting and kneeling; occasional climbing.
  • Occasional repositioning and use of assistive devices when transferring patients weighing up to 400 pounds between bed, chair, and gurney.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional/intermittent pushing of gurneys, wheelchairs, bed and other medical equipment over tiled and carpeted surfaces.
  • Continuous use of near vision to read medical equipment such as monitoring devices and reading documents and computer screens; hearing and verbal communication to interact with patients, co-workers, and other customers.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Primarily an inside building/office environment, well lighted and ventilated, which may consist of multiple treatment and/or work sites.
  • Fast and continuous work pace with variable workload.
  • Frequent contact with staff and public under a variety of circumstances. Requires ability to communicate clearly (in English) verbally and in writing for effective communication with other staff members, physicians, vendors, community members, patients and patient families, employees and applicants of all socio-economic levels from a diverse cultural and ethnic population.
  • Subject to many interruptions from multiple calls and inquiries and potentially emotional situations involving accidents, injuries, illness and/or death.
  • Handles emergency/crisis situations in accordance with Hospital policy.
  • Answers phones or pages; may carry a beeper/pager, and/or use a two-way radio.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Potential risk of exposure to hazards from chemicals (toxic and non-toxic), flammable materials, gas or electrical or radiant energy or equipment with/without moving parts.
