Description
This position is “the face of the Cardiac Diagnostic Suite”. They are the first person a patient will encounter. They are responsible for registration of all patients in CDS. They are responsible for the distribution of any Privacy Notices to comply with HIPPA regulations. This position will contact family of minor children to obtain permission for studies when a guardian is not available. Due to the nature of the position this staff member must be able to exercise a high degree of control over confidential information. They schedule patients in the appropriate time frames and verify insurance verification has come through if needed. The staff member must have knowledges of all scheduling systems used. They must know how to use and access the EMR system and do appropriate documentation if needed. This position is responsible for all for the day-to-day appointment flow throughout the department and works closely with the coordinators to ensure smooth transitions. They are responsible for solving problems and establishing a smooth workflow during busy and peak times throughout the day. They are responsible for preparing any necessary charts before a patient’s arrival. This position is also responsible for communication between other physician offices and cardiologists.
Associates degree in Health Services Administration or a Business-related field, or a combination of equivalent work experience and college Required
Successful completion of a Medical Terminology Class
Advanced systems aptitude, including proficiency in MS Office. Proficiency in MHC’s automated information systems preferred
Exemplary customer relation skills and proven ability to communicate effectively and accurately both in verbal and written form
Must be able to work independently and prioritize projects and timelines within a flexible schedule. Problem solving is a major component of the job
Able to operate under frequent stressful conditions due to constant changing requirements in healthcare. Candidate should understand the process of change and how it affects human behavior.
Knowledge of hospital organization and functions preferred
The person must be highly mobile to assist patients, and family members when needed.
Under the general supervision of the Manager of the Diagnostic Heart and Vascular Service Line and the Cardiac Diagnostic Suite Coordinators
Must be self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently
Must maintain a pleasant working relationship with ancillary departments, physician offices, and their co-workers.
