We are looking for team members who will continue our tradition of providing kind and respectful care for our patients in their homes.

Munson Healthcare’s Home Medical Equipment staff helps connect our patients with all types of medical equipment and supplies including wheelchairs, oxygen, or diabetic testing supplies. Our staff is responsible for providing prompt and courteous delivery service and making sure the patients are safe and comfortable by offering instructions on the proper use of prescribed equipment. Retail stores are open to the public in Cadillac, Gaylord, Manistee, and in Traverse City.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.

  • Previous Home Medical Equipment and/or customer service experience is preferred.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while handling multiple tasks.

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Must possess a State of Michigan Driver's license in good standing & safe driving record.

  • Meets MHH established requirements for proof of health status. Physically able to lift 35 pounds. Demonstrates ability to utilize good body mechanics or lifting techniques to avoid manipulating more than 35 pounds.

  • Meets Home Health and Medicare standards as evidenced by criminal background check and fingerprinting.

 

ORGANIZATION

Works under the direct supervision of the Home Medical Equipment Manager.  May receive direction/assignments from Branch Coordinator and/or Tech II.

Represents Munson Home Health in all dealings and has constant working contact with hospital staff, physicians, and the general public. Must convey a positive and professional image  and exercise courtesy and tact at all times.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  1. Supports the Mission, Vision and Values of Munson Home Health.

  2. Embraces and supports the Performance Improvement philosophy of Munson Healthcare.

  3. Promotes personal and patient safety.

  4. Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.

  5. Contributes to the team orientation of the Home Medical Equipment area and is responsible for proper communication with all department members and other departments.

  6. Responsible for delivery of DME and limited respiratory items to patients being discharged from Munson Medical Center and helps coordinate patient discharge when necessary. Works closely with the Munson discharge planning team.

  7. Maintains knowledge of DME/Respiratory equipment, supplies, prices, and reimbursement.

  8. Teaches customer/caregiver how to safely utilize, maintain, and troubleshoot their home medical equipment and respiratory care products. This teaching will be basic (dealing mainly with the equipment), yet concise.

  9. Obtains insurance information and prepares appropriate documentation for billing.

  10. Keys information into the computer as necessary and verifies all information for completeness and accuracy.

  11. Has working knowledge of the Power Chart system at Munson Medical Center and is able to input information as necessary.

  12. Responsible for delivery of oxygen cylinders, HME equipment, and supplies as needed.

  13. Understands and follow Munson Home Health code of conduct concerning applicable laws, and ethical business standards.

  14. Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when dealing with customers and employees. Promotes the company in a positive and professional manner.

  15. Performs other duties as deemed appropriate by management.

  16. Responsible for cleaning and trans filling oxygen cylinders when time permit.

  17. Responsible for maintaining delivery vehicle in a safe and orderly manner. Will adhere to all departmental guidelines and procedures.

  18. Will coordinate deliveries in an efficient manner.

  19. Employees with e-mail are required to maintain proficiency in the basic functions of the program and are also required to regularly check email and keep calendars up to date.

  20. Performs all other duties as deemed appropriate by management.
