GENERAL SUMMARY:

Traverse Heart and Vascular (THV), Munson Medical Center’s outstanding cardiology group, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join its stellar team of experts. Based in desirable Traverse City, MI, THV’s collaborative and collegial group includes 22 highly skilled physicians delivering state-of-the-art cardiovascular care together with 16 experienced NPs/PAs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Performs comprehensive patient assessments in the ambulatory setting, including history and physical examinations, Cardiology Consultation and routine office follow up care.
• Orders diagnostic tests, such as echocardiograms, stress tests (exercise or pharmacologic), x-rays, ECG’s, laboratory tests, and interprets test result.
• Develops and implements patient management plans, records electronic office notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care with collaboration and general supervision of the THV physicians.
• Prescribes pharmacologic and other therapeutic treatment for the benefit of patient health.
• Performs therapeutic procedures, as needed, including post-procedure wound care.  May be trained in supervision of stress testing, both non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic. 
• Educates and counsels patients and their families regarding diagnosis, medical and procedural treatments, compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, test results.
• Travels to Cardiology outreach clinics a minimum of 2 days per week.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training: 

• Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies

Work Experience:

• Cardiology experience is preferred but not required

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

• State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
