Full-time:  3-4 days per week with 2 weekends every 6 weeks and 3 of the major holidays

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is for a family practice or emergency medicine physician looking to practice in the Traverse City area.  Foster Family Urgent Care and Urgent Care West have teams of physicians, APPs, RNs, MAs, Radiology Technicians, and Nurse Assistants that provide needed care to patients in the community.   The office is open everyday, all year with open hours being 9am – 8pm in order to meet the needs of the patients they are caring for.  Depending on the season, the physician at the Traverse City Urgent Cares can expect to see an average or 30+ patients in a 12-hour shift. 

Qualified candidates will have a strong foundation of medical knowledge in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of acute injury and illness. Be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be proficient in office surgical procedures required to treat patients of all ages.

The candidate will also serve as the medical director of both practices. You will enjoy the support of an excellent multi-disciplinary team.  The medical director role will focus on programmatic growth to meet the needs of the Grand Traverse Region as well as further development of clinic standardization and provider engagement.

  1. Works as a member of the Urgent Care clinical team to promote, support and provide comprehensive medical care to Urgent Care clients.

 

  1. Develops, implements and evaluates plans of care utilizing sound clinical judgment based on assessment of physical, psychological, emotional, societal and environmental needs of the clients.

 

  1. Consults with Urgent Care physician in delivery of medical care. May also consult with or refer clients to other disciplines.

 

  1. Assists individuals to assume responsibility for the prevention of illness and the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health through the discharge process.

 

  1. Adheres to Evaluation and Management Documentation Requirements and completes legible medical records documentation in accordance with established hospital policy.

 

  1. Utilizes the current documentation and charting tools ie templates, Dragon or electronic medical record software for documentation as appropriate.

 

  1. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training: 

  • MD or DO
  • Successful completion of an approved U.S. Residency training program approved by the Accrediting Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) of the American Medical Association, or the American Osteopathic Association or its equivalent.

Work Experience:

  • Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine practice experience preferred

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

  • Board eligible/certified to practice in the State of Michigan

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must apply for and be granted applicable clinical privileges through MHC’s credentialing processes before rendering services
  • Good judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to make quality, independent medical decisions.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
