Specific Duties:

  • Assists visitors, patients and the general public at the front entrance to MMC.
  • Aids patients and visitors with directions to all MMC areas.
  • Performs patient’s transfers to and from vehicles and wheelchairs.
  • Coordinates vehicular traffic at the circle drive to the front entrance and keeps traffic moving at all times in the pick-up and drop-off area.
  • Ensures the immediate area is a safe & clean environment. Responsible for removal of snow and debris in the patient drop off area.
  • Interacts with Patient Escorts and Patient Access staff on a regular basis to facilitate admittance and discharge of patients, bags and/or carts of patient flowers and belongings.
  • Assists Patient Registration by notifying them when a patient needs to be registered, or informs them that the patient has a driver that will be arriving as soon as they have parked the car. Verify that the patient is pre-registered for outpatient surgery before escorting them to the proper area.  If a patient escort is unavailable, take the patient to the proper location.
  • Retrieves missing wheelchairs from clinical areas.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What’s Required:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Current advanced first aid certification or EMT certification desirable.
  • Exceptional communication skills in speaking to visitors, patients, the general public and MMC staff.  Communicate effectively and in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Demonstrate competency in body mechanics and transferring people in and out of vehicles.
  • Appropriate physical ability to lift and assist patients and visitors when necessary.
