What’s Required:

• The employee must be a graduate of an approved school of nursing, therapy or social work; minimum of 5 years of clinical experience with at least 2 years in Hospice or Home Care; and management experience required OR

• A health care/human services professional with at least 8 years of health-related experience, 2 years in Home Care or Hospice; management experience required as well as the knowledge and ability to effectively administer the Hospice services.

• Prior Palliative Care experience preferred.

• Proven knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations required.

• Experience working with terminally ill patients and their families.

• Demonstrated ability to lead/supervise others and to work effectively with persons of varied backgrounds and educational experience.

Specific Duties

• Establishes the budget and organizational plan and monitors business operations

• Ensures organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

• Makes decisions regarding hiring, termination and corrective action while ensuring adequate and appropriate staffing.

• Represents program in the hospital and in the community, locally, regionally and state-wide to ensuire program growth.

• Ensures that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes.

• Ensures that interdisciplinary care is provided and promoted by the structure and systems. 

• Ensures that hospice personnel stay current with local and national clinical practices, issues and trends.
