Fit Testing Assistant - Employee Health
Travel Required - Various Hospital Locations in Northern Michigan
SUMMARY
The role will fit N95 respirators to staff who are at risk to exposure to known airborne or unknown pathogens and/or hazardous materials.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma, GED or Equivalent required.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Able to wear protective medical gear to ensure safety.
Healthcare experience preferred
ORGANIZATION
Reports to Manager of Employee Health. May receive input/instructions from the Employee Health HR Specialist. Must be self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently.
SPECIFIC DUTIES

- Uses effective customer service/interpersonal skills at all times.
- Knowledgeable of basic infection prevention including hand hygiene and standard precautions and provides guidance for individuals putting on (donning) and taking off (doffing) masks.
- Provides support for fitting approved staff with N95 respirators.
- Conducts N-95 fit-testing procedures and with employees and providers to ensure proper respirator sizing and style as needed.
- Maintains inventory of respirators, testing solution, and other fit-testing supplies.
- Answer phone for questions and to schedule appointments for fit testing employees and providers.
- Explains the importance of N95 fit respirators and their role in infection prevention.
- Screens employees and providers to ensure they are suitable for N95 respirator use and testing.
- Inputs data into spreadsheets tracking the issuing and use of N95 respirators.
- Ensures supplies are kept up to date.
- Provide general clerical support to the Employee Health team as needed including fielding traffic coming into the office to the appropriate personnel.
- Will assist with flu vaccination data entry during the flu season preparations/required employee vaccinations that begin in late August and extend through October.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
