GENERAL SUMMARY

Join a family practice in Boyne City, Michigan that is in need of an enthusiastic and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant.  The family practice provider will join a team of 4 physicians and 2 APPs and will be providing same day care combined with a partial patient panel.  The clinic has in-office lab draws and 1:1 MAs.

The Boyne Area Health Center Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will deliver high quality care to patients of all ages.  Looking for a provider that will work 5 days per week.

STANDARDS OF CARE

1. Manage chronic conditions and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries, using best practices, i.e., evidence-based practice
2. Obtain relevant health and medical histories from patients and/or caregivers
3. Perform physical exams appropriate for age and history
4. Identify medical and health risks and needs
5. Order, conduct and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests
6. Formulate the appropriate plan of care based on history, physical exam, clinical findings and any diagnostic findings
7. Develop care plans and communicate plan to patient, their care giver, or family
8. Perform procedures within the scope of expertise (e.g., I&Ds, suturing wound closure, etc.)
9. Identify non-pharmacologic interventions and prescribe non-pharmacologic therapies; identify pharmacologic interventions and prescribe pharmacologic therapies
10. Provide relevant patient education
11. Make appropriate referrals to physicians and other health professionals and community agencies
12. Participate in quality improvement review on a periodic basis, including systematic review of records and treatment plans, helps disseminate findings and implement plans for improvement
13. Serve as an educational resource for ancillary staff
14. Complete and maintain written electronic records in a timely fashion and in compliance with MHC standards

7.      As a health care provider, the Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works in conjunction with their physicians in providing a full spectrum of primary care services to their assigned patients.  The primary responsibility of the nurse practitioner or physician assistant is to promote and maintain health in all age populations; and to prevent disease and illness exacerbation. 

8.      Assists in policy and procedure development for Boyne Area Health Center operations and clinical interventions.

9.      Maintains visibility within the community as a primary health care provider.  Serves as a role model to clinic staff, faculty, and the community at large.

10.  Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Training: 

• Master's Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies

Work Experience:

Certification, Licensure, Registration:

• State of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required
• BCLS Certified
