Residency Begins: June 2026
What does the program include?
Our program includes a combination of clinical and didactic training, a portion of which is approved for contact hours. New residents will participate in computer-based training, skills labs and simulations, critical care case studies, and numerous clinical and critical-thinking experiences.
Residents will have the opportunity to strengthen their clinical skills, sharpen their nursing judgment, and organize care for diverse patient populations. They will work in multidisciplinary teams with the most up-to-date equipment and use Evidence-Based Practice. All residents will gain an appreciation for the special interaction between nursing, critically ill patients, and their families.
DETAILS
First Round Interview: If selected for the first-round interview, a member of the recruitment team will reach out to you for a preliminary phone interview to learn more about your interest in the position
Second Round Interview: Will likely take place April 2026
Selection Process & Residency Offers: For selected residents, notification of acceptance into residency will occur around the end of May/early June
Residency Program Begins: June 2026
*Unit orientation dates may differ slightly from program start date

- Cover letter: introduce yourself and your goals.
- Resume: include all education and experience, including dates. A list of clinical rotations is helpful when evaluating your experience in various areas of nursing practice.
- Clinical narrative: Written statement of actual nursing practice. A story of how you provided care to a patient or family member
- Letter of Recommendation: One letter

ORGANIZATION
Works under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse if practicing as Graduate Nurse. Accountable to the unit manager or designee of the assigned patient care unit; ultimately accountable for the practice of nursing to the Vice President, Patient Care Services. Works collaboratively and effectively with all members of the patient care team.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- If starting as an RN, will need to share proof of MI RN license.
- For those hired into an RN position after January 1, 2015, it is required to obtain a BSN within 5 years of start date
- Medication delivery and counting of narcotics or witnessing waste of narcotics may not be done until the RN licensure is obtained (if practicing as a GN)
- Experience in the clinical area in which application has been made is desirable.
- Maintains Basic Life Support certification.
