Job Description

A Day in the Life

As a Travel MRI Technologist with Munson Healthcare, you’ll bring your expertise to a team committed to delivering exceptional, patient‑centered imaging services across northern Michigan. In this role, you’ll perform high‑quality MRI studies that help providers diagnose and treat patients with confidence.

Here’s what your day may look like:

  • Perform diagnostic MRI exams, including organ, system, and blood‑flow imaging.
  • Work independently while still feeling supported by a collaborative and compassionate imaging team.
  • Operate state‑of‑the‑art MRI scanners and ancillary equipment to produce clear, accurate diagnostic results.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam—explaining procedures, positioning patients, and monitoring for physical or emotional distress.
  • Practice strict MRI safety standards, including screening, safe room setup, and contrast administration.
  • Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and nursing teams to deliver seamless, high‑quality care.
  • Mentor and orient students, residents, or new technologists as needed.
  • Support Munson Healthcare’s Mission, Vision, Values, and True North framework, keeping patients at the center of everything you do.

Qualifications

What’s Required

  • Successful completion of an approved certification exam through ARRT, ARMRIT, ARDMS, or NMTCB, and maintained in good standing
  • Minimum 1 year of MRI experience (2+ years preferred)
  • Current BLS certification with biannual renewal
  • Ability to administer IV contrast and adhere to all MRI safety policies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Physical & Work Environment Highlights

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and patient positioning
  • Ability to safely assist patients up to 400 lbs with appropriate devices
  • Lifting equipment up to 50 lbs and pushing wheelchairs/gurneys
  • Fast‑paced medical environment with frequent interruptions
  • Exposure to emotionally intense situations (injury, illness, emergencies)
  • Clear and effective communication required across diverse populations
  • Potential exposure to chemicals, magnetic fields, and medical equipment
  • Occasional travel between Munson Healthcare locations
